This has grown to about 4 feet and it is in a place where I am sureI would not have planted it. Def. a woody, deciduous plant. TIA.

i'm not great with bushes but could it be a type of philadelphus?

Thanks, Sarah, but we now think it is Cornus sanguinea or stolonifera. It must have been bird sown as there was no compost round the roots when I dug it up to replant in the wild garden.
