I've got a strange thing on my gooseberries which I didn't notice for awhile due to recent liberal dusting of derris against sawfly. On the stems of one plant there are white, oval cocoons(?) very neat uniform shapes and each has a little black cap. They look like white coffee beans only smaller made of cotton wool/felt and white. If you break one open it has pink mush inside. Can't tell if it's insect or fungus and can't find anything like it mentioned anywhere. Anyone seen it? Know what it is? Know how to treat it?
