Hi  :)
Has anybody tried lettuce wine  ???
We have found a recipe for it and was wondering if anybody had
tried to make and if so what was the result was ::)

I asked about this on a wine making forum, and the replies I got were dubious about it, although they had never tried. It would be a great way of using the lettuce glut though!

Lettuce contains no acid, sugar, tannin, or body, so these things would have to be added. The resulting wine would probably contain lactucarium an opiate like drug often used in herbal sedatives which is found in varying concentrations in most varieties of lettuce which should be beared in mind before drinking it.
If it didn't taste any good then most things can be improved by running them through a still.
