Swallow at rest

Not a very good picture but this swallow sat above its old nest for a long time tonight so had to take a pic of it through the window.

Lovely picture - I didn't realise they were so colourful  I was watching them swooping up high last night & thinking about the amazing journey they had done.  Also that this was the first migration for a while when we haven't had a bird flu scare which makes a change.

I think they are amazing birds and I look forward to them coming every year.  I have been lucky in having a nest in the corner of my house for many years now and a couple of times watched them rear their young.  This year a wren took over the nest but its now back as a Swallows.  No sign yet of her laying an egg or 6 in the nest but they come here often.  Fingers crossed they choose this old nest again.

 ;) ;)
