I also use Stanaslan [? sp] powder - does keep the smell down in the summer.  Also The Giant Pet Store do some disinfectant which is liscensed for use with poultry which I use for major clean outs - I suspect Jeyes Fluid is just as good though.

After clearing away what I can - I use a Sulphur Candle.

Lock chicks outside for 12 hours when you burn it & close all doors and windows. It kills everything inside. Prior to letting them in - I open the window for an hour or so to let it ventilate, Then open doors & windows fully for 2 hours prior to locking them up for the night.

Ooo I did wonder about those candles! I use Jeyes but think a candle every couple of months sounds good!
