broccoli planting

Had some broccoli plants given to me . The roots were very tangled .Have planted in clumps( 4-5 plants ) .  Can I thin these out at a later date?

Make the compost really REALLY wet, and you should be able to tease the roots apart without too much damage. Then pot them on into moist compost and they should be OK, as long as the roots aren't exposed for too long.
Oh, and obviously water well afterwards.
Grow your own and enjoy the fruits of your labours,
Regards Alan.

I would thin sooner rather than later - the tangling will only get worse...
