I really do not understand this year.
« on: May 09, 2007, 08:16:11 »
These Chillies were potted up - earlier photo - 21 March.

They have since been on the bench with a steady 60F soil temperature.

What more do they want? We'll be lucky to get fruit this year at this rate.

I've never grown peppers before, but my daughter gave me some seed(she doesn't have a GH), so thought I would give them a try. Mine took 4/5 weeks to germinate, and are now at about the same size as the ones across the middle of your photo. It's got to be 3 months now since I sowed them!!!!! BTW, mine are still in the 3" pots I sowed them in.

As you said, it looks like we'll be lucky to get any fruit this year.
Grow your own and enjoy the fruits of your labours,
Regards Alan.

Mine have flowers and the beginnings of fruit.

Actually these were overwintered....this year's aren't that much bigger than yours - but most still in cells, only potted on some of the larger ones last w.e.

I wonder if you potted the seedlings on a bit quickly Tim (if they were started in cells that is)?

Tim, I potted mine into their final spots in big pots in the greenhouse last Saturday, I thought they were small  but it had to be done that day I was surprised  that they had a very big coiled set of roots. They were in 3" pots, and they have come on no end since then.

Why Tim, how sweet. I think it is more likely I slipped up and they were so relieved to get out of their tight pots XX Jeannine

I see that my Sweet peppers now have flower buds on, and they are growing in a cold greenhouse in Glasgow. However, the variety is King of the North, which I grew last year and it cropped in August.

Hi Tim. Once again with the peppers and chillies - mine were slow to start but had never grown them before so took as long gerbillation period. They then rested at 2 inches for about a month and have started growing now. Some are still only about 3" high, others are topping a whacking 5".
They are supposed to be for sale at the school fair on the 7th July so i hope they look convincing enough by then!

The Cayennes are doing really well, and one has a flower!
But all the others are still very small and taking their time (halbernero, Jalapeno, scotch bonnet, tepin, Serrano)
