How much direct sunlight do plants need?
« on: May 07, 2007, 15:22:18 »
I've cleared the garden and I was going to put in a couple of rows of peas but having been out all day I've noticed that the way the sun moves means they won't get any direct sunlight until very late in the day.

Will this hamper plant growth a huge amount or will a few hours late be enough?

(I'll post some pics later)

Do you mean they will be in shade?

If the light is good and they get morning or afternoon sun this should be enough, permanent shade is another thing!!

After watching the sun all day yesterday and digging over a bit of the area I was looking at I'm going to have to give that bit a miss, it's shaded till really late in the day and compared to the rest of the area the ground is very damp  :(

The other end has much better ground but 2 trees in it and the middle area has bamboo in which I'm very slowly digging out so not a huge amount of room to plant things just yet :(
