Tomato - like the wimpy one next to it - all drawn up because of our lean-to.  Just shows that you can't judge by the 'foliage'.

And trying to make the point that it's better to temper ones enthusiasm/impatience rather than waste unused compost & unsettle plants before they have a coherent rootball.

are they gardeners delight perchance? mine have have gone quite stretched aswell even though they have had good light. am hardening them off now.

My Gardener's Delight have gone all leggy as well. Moved them into the mini greenhouse to start to harden off gently and they immediately got a bit of sun scorch. All the other toms have coped well.

Sarah - no, I do find that the cherries go leggy more quickly - in the same way that they grow on.

I have a feeling this also refers to my over eager transplanting of beetroots a while ago...  :-[   :-X but hey ho, i'm a beginner, we're bound to get these things wrong lol!

Mine are leggy too. But that looks like quite a big pot already, Tim? I had to pot mine on because they were falling over due to being top-heavy rather than because the roots had filled the pot.
