Middlesex and Manure
« on: April 26, 2007, 08:30:16 »
I am not sure if I am putting this in the correct topic but does anyone know if our site in Middlesex would be able to get 'free manure' delivered?

Manure is free. Transport is expensive.

It might be worth trying Jack's Stables in Fore Street. It used to be free if you collect, but I think they charge to deliver. Or there is a large stables on the main road near Mount Vernon Hospital. And I bet there's something in Harefield. But, as Eristic says, transport is the expensive bit. (All stables have plenty of the stuff to get rid of! We're lucky - we have a stables on-site, so "transport" means a wheelbarrow.)

Hi Trevor,

Many thanks for that.  I will see how much Jack's stables charge to deliver.

At our AGM members wanted free manure delivered.

The stables near The Green Man don't deliver although you can go and take as much as you want free, like many places.

I can't see the problem with collecting it yourself but I am secretary at my site so will have to do my best to find the cheapest delivery charge.

Are you on the Joel Street site?

Yes. Where are you?

If you're a council-run site, they might be able to help. (They were offering free compost today, but again only to those able to collect.) I think your members may have to have a whip-round.

Chestnut Avenue.

That's the whole point the members don't want a whip-round ::)

Yes, it is a council site but the council think the members should go and collect it themselves for 'free', which I agree with :D  But as secretary I have to do what is agreed at the AGM.

Have you had much vandalisim on your site?  We suffered an awful lot last year and this year as soon as the new fencing had been out up it started again.

Is Samantha still on your site?  My mum lived in the same block of flat's as she did but haven't seen her about in ages.
Chloe:)
