last frost date
« on: April 21, 2007, 19:24:30 »
Is there somewhere that lists the last frosts dates from previous years?  I have no idea locally when my last frost was/will be and figure that by now, we are almost safe, altho chilly at night.

Hi Emma , I have been trying to figure this out too. I can tell you anywhere in Canada and the US if that is any good. If there is something published I would really like to know. XX Jeannine

This might help EJ http://tinyurl.com/y57avq (click on the map to enlarge it.)

But a word of warning it is meant as a guide!!

Even professional weathermen can't get it right so what chance have I?

If you look at the index page the weeks are numbered under the 'month' title

The problem with charts and records is that they are an average.
Last year there was a cold March and plants that survived all winter were then killed off. April was cold and seed germination poor. Here in Liverpool, there were 4 days of frost in April. This year the last frost so far was 21st March.
The average temperature for April is 4.8C higher than last year.

The Meteorlogical office has numerous records that are easily accessible and split into regions.
