pete you need to be getting your pumpkin started now in the GH then repot it to a bigger pot then harden it off outside then plant outside.

do you have any chicken pellets?

I have mine started in peat pots and i have 2-3 chicken manure pellets at the bottom which means as the roots grow down they will pick up all the nutriants.

You dont want more than 2-3 bits as its going to be 2 strong for a seeding.

Peat pots then avoid root disturbance.

I sowed mine on the 25th April last year.  They germinate really quickly and grow so  rapidly that I find it is not worth doing them earlier because you want to make sure the conditions are suitable for them before you put them out. I think it was well into June before mine were planted outside. busy_lizzie

All my squash seeds have been started about 2 weeks, and are doing fantastically well, even in my unheated greenhouse. Have had to transfer them to larger pots, and my courgette plants are huge already!
Looking from the outside in...

Until when can sow squash seeds? I'm going to be away from this weekend for 2 weeks... Is early-mid May early enough? I've got some SS squash seeds and am determined to succeed with them.

Started mine about two weeks ago and so far so good, Sarahs seeds are going well and Ahmeds seeds make me laugh everytime i look at them, dunno why, i just keep imagining such a character  :D

Pumpkins look happy enough too, got him indoors building and sawing away to make me a pergola type structure to support them, well it gets him  off his computer and out into the sunshine  8)
See how good I am too him  ;D
