Basil in Pots
« on: May 16, 2004, 11:45:45 »
Hi folks
At last I've managed to get some Basil to germinate and it is enjoying this warm weather.

I want to grow the plants in pots - could you please give me your advice on a) the minimum size pot per plant for a good crop and b) how many I could get in a 9" pot.

Many thanks

Ours has just germinated after 4 days, and we put ONE seedlng into a 9" pot - of which we have 5 - & that sees us through the season. Indoors! Just in case, sow a few more - the tom season can go on a bit!!  Keep cutting even if you don't use it - it goes to seed quite quickly. It'll grow to about 18" high. = Tim

- each to his own!! = Tim

Monday - btw - thanks, Stephan - made me check - it's 7" that we use - & that's for sweet basil. But last year we did 5 to a grow-bag - just right.

Thanks both - I seem to have rather a lot of plants (slurp - pesto here we come!) so I'll probably try both methods!
