Mary.   The ones in the picture were grown 12 to a half seed tray.  (Yes I know there's only 11 but I'd already eaten one!)

Pye.  Isn't French Breakfast a bit long for seed trays?  Or do you have especially deep ones?  Thanks for the seed offer though.

Thanks Cornykev.   :)

aob9.  Makes no sense at all does it?

Manics.  It's not the price, I just want to be able to grow radishes again.   :'(

I don't tend to bother with normal radish, but had a good crop of Rat's tail (pods) and Black Spanish Round (Winter)...

Hi all,

Radish need to grow fast in damp, soft soil,

always harvest them young and little,

if they are slowed down or old they are only good for composting.

So successional sowings are needed to keep a supply going.

Best of Luck, Col

They're not terribly long, and they grow beautifully in normal seed trays. The offer stands, pm me if you'd like to try some  :)

Started off 12 in half a seed tray today.  Thanks wouldn't have thought of it & never had much luck with them in the ground.

if anyone wants to try a different raddisj have a look at the long scarlet radish from the real seed company - nice purple radish that comes out carrot shape (& size). Ive only got a dozen seeds left so Im not planting mine again this year till later but Im going to follow the trend and do French breakfast in a deep tray in the greenhouse tonight.

I imagine we can use the same potting compost quite a few times with raddish?

If radishes can be grown in seed trays, would it be possible to grow them in large cells? The cells I have are about 2" wide - could I grow some in these?

Planted mine on Tuesday & about half have germinated today [one had popped up yesterday - less than 24 hours].  Thanks for this tip Georgie - wouldn't have thought of it.

My first radishes (in a pot) were planted on 31 March, but having a little look today only seemed to reveal long stalks and no bulbs so far.  The leaves look nice and tall and healthy just like the photo above, but no bulbs.  Does this mean that they have failed for some reason?

I have a second sowing 3 weeks later, and the leaves are starting to grow.  Anything I can do to ensure this doesnt happen again, or is it the luck of the draw?

I planted cherry belle last month. They seem small and are starting to be pushed out the top of the compost :(  I ate one yesterday it was delicious but there are also some small odd shapes.
