chickens in the fruit cage
« on: March 27, 2007, 18:13:33 »
I know this sounds strange but 2 of our mates have suggested we put chickens in the new fruit cage..I've always wanted some but have been worried about security..we now have a new security fence which will be finished at the weekend, could someone give me some fors and againsts, also what we'd need to start..as you can see from the fruit cage pictures (fun picture thread)..there's loads of room..would they eat the fruit?  ;D

Yep they would eat the friut n scratch up all the roots n eat all the shoots - me thinks it's not a very good idea.  Chickens often live happily in orchards but they are mature trees - I can't honestly see how it would work with [presumably] fruit bushes.

Maybe fruit in one half & ckickies in the other  :)

I put fruit in my chicken cree that has gone a little soft for our consumption. it is always the first food to be devoured instead of pellets, corn, maize, & bread that is also down at the same time :o :o :o
