Finally, a decent swede!
« on: October 17, 2007, 13:21:55 »
Swede seem to be my bogie crop, either being devastated by flea beetle or finishing up as small wooden things.

Thankfully this year we have cracked it.

We had/have a bumper crop this year too - for the first time grew Virtue - seeds from T&M

I've planted 'Best of All' too but mine are about the size of golfballs at the mo...  very light soil though (Sandy soil on an ash heap so doesn't hold any moisture).

Well done Piglet, I hope mine turn out to be even half that size!

Does seem to be a good year for swedes, mine a massive too - i grew Best of all.

I cracked it last year by starting them off in cells, seems to make a big difference. Until them that just seemed to get eaten, and eaten by flea beetles - then the survivours never came to much as they'd been held back for ages fighting off the flea beetles.

I love them roasted  :P
