look at this on our plot first piccy http://lottieblogs.co.uk/febweek3.aspx we put wooden planks down to make the paths, still quite cheap under £10 for the lot and will last and looks cool.

I have done the same for the paths that branch off the main axis. The main axis is done with 3x2ft paving slabs. Also got some with smaller versions of railway sleepers

Marymary,
Don't panic.
Glysophate the upgrowth. Takes awhile, hit again & maybe again. You will win!

I am beginning to think I'll have to resort to chemicals cos it really is trying to take over my whole world.  Even found great tangles of it in my strawberry planter today - god i hate the stuff.

I've used weed-suppressing fabric covered with 2ft paving slabs (luckily, I dug them up on my plot - they were hiding under the couchgrass).

I bought a bottle of a ready-mixed spray in Tescos today & I'm going to spray every tiny leaf & make sure it just goes on the horrid stuff - this is war & I'm going to win.   ;D ;D ;D

apologies to Dan for linking to another site, but the search isn't working on here and I knew where to find Supersprouts suggestion for paths "over there".
