heritage veg seeds
« on: May 07, 2004, 12:54:34 »
Are there any companies that specialise in heritage veg?

I much prefer these old fashioned varities that have stood the test of time rather than these new fangled hybrids!

Have a look at the heritage page at www.plant-seed-mailorder.org.uk - Thomas Etty is has the largest selection in the UK - with lots of information about the plants

TG

You're talking about the Heritage Seed Library, which is covered extensively elsewhere - the next time you can get seeds from them will be Nov 2004 - members get a 6 varieties of seeds of their choice and the chance to swap with other members

the full url is http://www.hdra.org.uk/hsl/index.htm

It's all on the heritage page of my website or did I say that before???  :D

Had a look at the Thomas Etty site and see they offer Aubergine `Rotonda bianca sfumata di rosa`-I got some seeds in Italy a while back and can say it`s a winner-large meaty fruit with a superb flavour.

I love to grow `heritage` but not all F1s are bad-remember when one had to check the cucumbers every day for male flowers?

Thanks Phil for the added detail.

As I said I seemed to recall they did it, not being a member I didn't know the full details.

Thanks again.
