Olive's second hatching saga!
« on: January 28, 2007, 22:34:04 »
Ok... its not a saga yet but i'm sure it will be... especially as OH doesn't actually know that the hen is sat on 10 eggs and he warned me the day before i set them that I WAS NOT TO GET EGGS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Anyway the first saga is that the one and only Gold Laced orpington egg is broken under the broody!

Candling on Wednesday night so I'm sure there will be more in store.

What a shame to loose a egg so early good luck for wed candling I read somewhere legbars ( blue eggs) to candle at 14 days cannot see anything at 7.
Tell OH your setting them for someone else he will soften when chicks come. ha ha.
I was moaned at last year for getting eggs but when hatching came he was their and texting me how many now. He would check them before leaving for work and when he came home brooder in spare bedroom.
Yep tough guy haha

I threw 3 jubilees and a buff banty a few days ago - they were all dark yellow runny inside!

The rest appear viable but to be honest i havent seen any chicks move, though as its so cold im just lookin for shadowing and air cell and popping them back quick.

Up early this mornign and NOTHNIG has happened yet. V disappointed as i was hoping for a clutch this morning... not even a pip though. Today is day 22/3 i did say i would give them a few days extra with this cold spell but im not holding my breath  ::) :-[ :'( ???

I should be at work today but my little boy has strep throat and a wierd viral rash so im home to keep an eye on things. If nothing happens by thurs morning i will open them up!

I decided to crack them just now... glad i did, they were yellow and green and stinking... guess they died quite a while ago now.

Oh well, try again when the weather warms up!
