Likewise with the straw, went over the lottie sunday and have one1/5 of the plot covered in straw, I explained to my mate and he said we better get some more then.
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I fully expect sometime very soon to get up the stables and see if I can't get a bale of straw in the back of the Fiesta.  The value of straw will rocket this year ! ;D

This is what we did today
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

So much straw and don`t forget the pony poo :)

The service was very moving, Sarah was in a wicker coffin decked with flowers. Hymns were `All things bright and beautiful`and `We plough the fields and scatter`.

We lunched on some of Sarah`s produce and Will was genuinely touched by all the posts and thoughts you have all expressed.

A wicker coffin with flowers strewn over. How beautiful. How fitting the hymns too. It really must have been very moving. The grandkids are too small to know about Sarah but they will be planting the sweetcorn she sent them soon. I will keep a photograph record of it and then they will know when they get bigger all about the lady who loved straw.

Yes, it was a lovely service, as much as a funeral can be. I never met Sarah but she had obviously touched a lot of people's lives. The A4A "wreath" was wonderful- straw, sprouts, carrots, girl thingy willow and flowers. And it was nice to meet a few members, however briefly- hope you all got home safely.

I was working, and at 11am I put down my spade, looked up to the blue sky, and the only clouds I could see looked like a smiling face...you know, 2 eyes, splodge for a nose and a sweep for a smiling mouth.  I smiled back up and wished Sarah a safe journey wherever she may go.  I still can't believe she has gone....even though we knew it was inevitable.  She is the only message I have in my pm folder and she will stay there.  :'(

I sadly missed the service in York as we had printed a map off the net which directed  us to the wrong place, instead of the name of the church it took us to a street of the same name,by the time we realised the error and had checked out the adjacent church which was not the one and found out it was way accross the other side of the town, and we got a map and some help etc we arrived just as the car was leaving to  take Sarah to the cemetary, so we missed the whole service. We followed the car  and managed to see the beautiful wicker coffin, we waited in the car rather than intrude  then went back to the wake with them.We met some super good people and learned much more about Sarah from relatives. Much as I was very embarrased to be late  and not sure what to do next almost went home without seeing anyone,I am glad  now we carried on.

 XX Jeannine

Jeannine, what a shame you missed the service, but it would have been worse not to join in later, I am so glad you did after making the journey.

I am glad it all went so well, thank you for telling us about it.  And  a big thank you too Olive Oil for arranging for the flowers from us all.

I went outside in the garden and sat and thought about Sarah.  Very briefly the sun popped out just about 11 o'clock, I thought it must be for Sarah! :)

I came in and copied and pasted from her postings different bits and pieces of gardening knowledge that I never want to loose and printed it off.  It was sad reading through her postings now but I have her instructions for pea sprouts, some information on squashes that prompted me to order Buttercup which I shall remember her when I plant them, and a few other bits and pieces.  Thank you Sarah.  Re-reading her posts reminds you of what a special lady she was and how lucky we were she joined A4all. :)

I went outside work at 11am and had a good old think about Sarah and all the friends I have made the same way as I "made friends" with Supersprout !

I too shall be trawling for her posts and printing off her advice.

Straw mulching is the future, Supersprout saw it and we shall follow.

Adios Sarah.  Please smile on us this summer as we will all still think about you every time pea sprouts, mulch and JAs are mentioned.

Just to let you all know...Will had made some food with things from Sarah's plot. A fitting tribute!

Her sister told me how much she was moved by reading the posts on here.

She will be missed by people all over, in so many different fields.

I will never forget her, for sure, not many people can inspire such love and leave a legacy of so much straw!!
