For those without it -

23/4 sowed French & Runners at 58F. 29/4 French germinated. Waited. Thought OMG & re-sowed Runners. SO? Today the first Runners are through!! Lesson?? = Tim

Tim, you are not going to believe this.
Sowed green beans and runners 24/4, green beans up on 30/4, exactly one day behind you with sowing and germinating.
I started wondering about the runners too, dug around and found one that was just germinating on 2/5 and on 5/5 the first runner was up.

I've sown all the beans in plastic balcony boxes in the greenhouse. We always lose too many when planting in the ground, mice and rats I think.

How many plants do you put at each pole?
I used to do two but found if I do 4 or 5 it works just as well and we get lots and lots of beans. What is the thought behind only doing two to a pole? I do put them in a rather wide circle so the roots have plenty of room.

Only just seen this, Ina - I normally stick to a sort of 9" spacing - in whatever direction! But this year (you saw my poles in the pic?) I'm putting 2 per pole. We'll see! = Tim
