Flying Ant Day
« on: August 03, 2003, 02:24:09 »
As it was too hot to work most of this afternoon, we put a groundsheet down and lay in the shade of the shed.  Overhead were countless seagulls (Lesser Black Backed and Black Headed mostly) circling and slowly drifting on the current.

The reason became obvious when I sat up - Flying Ants - everywhere.  The grass verges were shimmering with them as they emerged from nests and launched themselves into the air, only to be caught by the gulls.

Any other interesting sights today?

(We also spotted a Sparrowhawk twice today)
