Memorial Acer
« on: February 17, 2007, 22:22:32 »
About three years ago, a group of friends planted an Acer tree as a memorial to a greatly revered associate.
Each Spring, the tree buds well, and produces leaves in profusion, but almost immediately the rim of the leaves turn brown, and quickly drop off.
Can anyone suggest why, and a possible cure?

Is it in an exposed area?  Acers are susceptible to cold winds scorching the leaves, and from your description, I would suggest that could be the problem.

Mine did better when it was moved to a moist spot near a shady fence. Don't get any leaves falling now, and I used to every year.

Sorry I have taken so long to thany you for the advice - ruddy site kept refusing my password!
Yes, it is rather exposed. I think the ones who selected the site wanted to give it room to grow!
