Uses for shredded raspberry canes?
« on: February 15, 2007, 20:34:46 »
I've finished the pruning of my raspberries and currant bushes and put them through the shredder - would it be possible to use this as a mulch (it's quite fine though) or is the best thing to put it on the compost mixed in with some 'greens'?

I would think it would be fine as a mulch  but also add some substance to the compo heap if it's mainly greenstuff.

Just pruned my Autumn Bliss raspberries today, and have retained the last year shoots to use as pea sticks. Just hoping that they don't take root, because I'll have to find room to transplant them if they do. Just can't throw anything away.
Grow your own and enjoy the fruits of your labours,
Regards Alan.
