Made some today with potatoes, carrots, sprouts, onions and garlic today.
Amazing how you can store veggies with a bit of advice!
Happy New Year to all.

Hate to admit this, but I've never eaten B&S or made it. Don't know why, just haven't. People keep telling me how special it is.....maybe I should give it a go. ;D

I'm told it's the noise it makes in the pan.

I have an old recipe book which says if you add onion it becomes Pip, Squeak and Wilfred. T.

Its just got to be leftovers. Cold potato and cold cabbage mashed then fried in a pan. But you can easily use cold sprouts instead or any veg. Yes it does bubble and squeak. For all us dieters's you can just mash everything and add butter, milk put in a dish and stick cheese on top put in oven for 30 mins on 180c. Ok, ok I lied about the dieting bit but it does save standing over it!!!!! Had our boxing day dinner with that and cold turkey n trimmings and onion and mushroom gravy. Have to say I enjoyed it better than Xmas day.

Bubble and squeak (spuds, sprouts, seasoning) with a layer of Cheddar hidden inside each pattie... all melted and gooey once the B&S is cooked.
Oh dear... I should stay off food-related threads at this time of night ::)

well I add some chopped up bacon or lardons which I've fried off first till crispy to the chopped and cooked sprouts (or whatever veg you've used)before mixing with the mashed potato.....it's gorgeous :P
yes, you can fry it making it proper bubble & squeak or pop in oven as Meg suggests - maybe if you are having to watch the cals or fat content - leave off the cheese (you've already got some bacon in it for that ;)) have it with any cold meats and chutney - yummy
