House plant identities...?
« on: November 11, 2006, 17:30:34 »
Hey. Went to B&Q the other day...and they had baby houseplants that had been reduced down to 8 for a £1. which wa s agreat bargain....i just put all the healthier looking ones in my pack lol. I did end up with some of the same plants....but they look cute none the less all repotted and lined up on my window sill. BUT i've no idea what most of them are or to take care of them. I've put a houseplant food stick in all of them and i mist them everyday to keep the moisture level around them.

hopefully in the next year or two they'll grow up to be nice and big so i can dot them around the house.

When I get old I don't want people thinking

                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Great buy!

Just threw my H/P book away - don't do them much these days - except the Maidenhair Fern.

Okay, here's my best shot.

1.  sorry no idea

2. Philodendron or Scindapsus

3.  Maranta (prayer plant)?

4.  Caladium possibly?

5.  no idea

6.  Fritonia

7.  Adiantum (Maidenhair)

8.  Hypoestes (Freckle Face) ?

Could 1 be a sort of Kalanchoe?

I agree.. 3 is a Maranta. And 5 looks like a Ficus or maybe Hibiscus.

Looks like you got a bargain!

thanks guys for all the help. though looking at images online and checking my plants......i don't think any of the guesses on 1 or 5 are right.

to be honest it's difficult to tell what they are lol. they're nothing hugely distinct about either of them.

but thanks again!

i'm very sure on those 2. the first one's devil's ivy...and the 4th one is Caladium like georgie said. well i think so anyway....any suggestions i just type into google to see if it looks the same as much plant lol.

but thanks for the attempt though!
