Topic: neglected strawberries

Hi all
I am working my way through the middle section of my plot over a section that was rough dug last year that had previously been a strawberry patch.
I have lots of very small strawberry plants. Are these worth saving? If so anybody wanting some, they come free with couch grass brambles and nettles to anyone with a fork and a strong back.
I thaught I might plant them in a piece of guttering with compost untill I have dug out the couch grass from the area where I want them.
Plant through a weed supressing membrane or not? "expert " opinion seems to be divided in Rugby.

Those pictures could have been taken on my plot.
Those little plants can be fruitful and should not be consigned to the compost bin then and no problem with membrane and slugs getting to your strawbs before you do.

Gardener, is that membrane that you have planted through or plastic.  Sorry it is hard to tell.  :-\ What variety of strawberry are they and when do they fruit.   Ive been given some nameless variety which apparently fruits quite early and I need to get some which will fruit a bit later in the season.... Any advice ???
