Hi ,
I'm sure iv'e read this somewhere.
When growing cabbage, when the heart is growing you can use a paperclip to wrap the leaves around it for protection.
I told this to some people and they all said i was off my head :o :o

I'm sure I've read about tying cabbage, lettuce and Chinese cabbage - to
encourage them to heart up
- in older gardening tomes ;)
Not read this or heard of it recently though ::)
I wonder if breeding has developed better 'hearting' varieties?

If the stem is pieced, for lettuce & cabbages, it encourages heartening up.
