While I'm waiting impatiently to get the keys to my plot, can anyone recommend a good book to help get me started on organic fruit and veg growing? Thanks!

RHS fruit growing, vegetable growing and organic gardening. One of the cheap bookshops is selling Bob Flowerdew's books really cheap....book works I think it's called. And all the above....I can't help myself i keep buying books!

I really enjoyed "Allotted Time: Twelve Months, Two Blokes, One Shed, No Idea"

- you sort of absorb info as you read the story (and there are several very informative appendices).

Thanks all, for your quick and helpful replies. I bought "Allotment Gardening" by Susan Berger on the way home last night and read it cover to cover, so just had to buy another this morning on the way to work! Have now got my nose stuck in "The Allotment Handbook" by Andi Clevely – both are really helpful and offer lots of advice about gettting started. I also have Monty Don's "The Complete Gardener" at home (xmas present) for when things are up and running... but there's always room on the book shelf for more gardening books! ;)
