I tried that this year, didn't seem to kill the slugs and ended up a mess when it rained.

I like the idea of slug traps with beer, sound good they die drunk and happy but if you feed them to the birds would the birds get drunk? they fly low accros my garden at the best of times might be a bit dangerous if your outside ha ha.

might be a bit like eating chocolate liqures ;D anyway been digging up lots of guttering and downpipes up the lottie :'( don't think that idea would work as they burrow. they still have slugs on islands, so can't see that would work, however it does work with rabbits they don't like the water thing and wont jump over it. ;)

I read a report (googled) that the population of slugs per sq. metre of normal ground can be astonishing, so defeating them is impossible.
Bit like moles, you kill the locals and then the product of their reproductive system move back in.
