Is this ripe?
« on: September 23, 2006, 18:47:16 »

i bought some kids pumpkin seeds...and this is how one of them looks. the spot on it are starting to go yellow-ish. is this ripe do you think? i've tried to stick my nail into it...even though it resists....i can push hard and get it in there.

i'm just worried about the frosts getting it before i do...that's all. and do you know if it's going to go fully yellow?

It will continue to yellow/orange even the blue ones do eventually... if you leave it as long as you dare you will see more colour but if you have anywhere you can cure it... eg under a coldframe... you can be sure that a sudden frost doesn't hurt it!

kewl. i've not picked them last night because the plant started to look terrible. it looks like it had rust allover it...along with very bad powdery mildew. it was starting to fall apart from the middle so i cut them off because it could spread to the fruit. they're ripeing ok though and i've got them on a sunny windowsill till they ripen.
