I take it you've tried Tools/ internet options and put a different address in the box (including http://)

It may also be looking for updates so try Tools internet options Advanced and under browsing deselect check for Auto IE updates (or just update) then test

You may have the "hijack this" virus which hijacks your homepage and replaces it with rubbish websites, however and weirdly, I think your virus protection could be sorting this out OK for you but returning it to the default setting of MSN.

You could change the default page in the windows registry.
how to do this is explained at
http://www.online-tutorials.com/folder0/60.htm

Good luck Glow

Re: Hijack this - it gets past most protection but XP Defender beats it - available throught the Windows XP site.  If you have an unlicenced copy of Windows, Google it, there are hacked versions out there that work just as well. :)

defender and hjt are very diferent programs
hjt is not made by microsuck or a bnig company hence i would trust it more
it contains no spyware or nasties and is one of the moast valuable tools in beating a zombied pc

Sorry meant to write hijack progams but cut and past hijack this.  I use hijack this in conjunction with http://www.geekstogo.com/.  One of there most regular recomendations for beating hijacks is MS Defender.

Thanks--I hope my better at computing half will understand what you guys are referring to!

It's so frustrating that Norton security (came with trial offer this new computer--should have never accepted it) managed to block me from reading my own files that I had transfered from my old computer, but, failed to stop this msn homepage virus from taking over my peace of mind!

as i siad it sounds like your browser im guessing u use internet explorer has been hijacked by a nasty

go to http://www.firefoxonline.co.uk/?gclid=CN6z1s-To4cCFUCBFQodHX2y8g
and download firefox its a lot better browser and safer as well than ie less bugs and holes in it

if u can get that hijack this log file for me and post it on here i can help in removeing the nasty if that is whats causing the problem

also can u post some more specs about your system
ie what operating system  etc

kind regards

I don't suppose you've got an MSN toolbar installed have you? I could imagine that would always default to MSN as homepage.
