Wet behind the ears and in need of advice...
« on: September 01, 2006, 14:46:46 »
Hi, I have a dream to grow my own veg.  I have grown tomatoes for a couple of years and enjoyed every minute, even though it isn't very taxing.  I have just bought a greenhouse and want to begin with some winter veg.  Can anyone advise the best veg to start with and any handy tips?

Winter salad and a catch crop of herbs can be sown in a greenhouse soon-things to watch-many plants can take a bit of cold-and fleece does help-it`s cold damp air that is the biggest problem so keep it ventilated

Hi trixter and welcome, lucky you with a greenhouse! :o ;D
You might find it worth getting a 'bible' on four-season harvest:

If you're within reach of Rutland, Barnsdale Veggie Gardens (Geoff Hamilton's place) are running a day course on 'Harvesting all the Year Round' in October:

Good luck, follow cleo's advice, and happy gardening ;)
