Fennel
« on: August 20, 2006, 22:18:12 »
Has anyone tried collecting seeds of bulb fennel and planting with any success? I've got some Zeta Fino which is flowering at the moment, wondering whether to try. Ant advice extrememly welcome!

I've not tried fennel, but it should be OK so long as there aren't any plants from the same family flowering nearby.

Cut off head, pop in a paper bag, hang upside-down somewhere warm and dry (shed's good).

However, if it bolted easily, be aware it's offspring might be prone to the same

Hope that helps

Thats very helpful Diana, thanks.
It hasn't really bolted easily - stood through all the hot weather, was an early sowing and we just didn't manage to use it all.
