Hi there,
Been asked at work if I know whats up with his Acer palmatum "osakazuki" Im not totally sure so thought I would ask for some help. All I really know about it is that its in a large pot, has been well watered and is in a fairly sheltered spot.
Many, many thanks in advance
Matt

Sorry Matt, my eyesight's not good enough to see what's wrong - any chance of a description? or a single bigger picture?

Scorch. Mine have the same, it's because of the drought. They should recover next year. Mulch in the spring!

Or wind burn. My inlaws suffer from that as theirs are planted in the middle of their lawn.

What has he been watering with, cos I don't think they like the tap water in our part of the world. They need acid conditions. My mother had one in a pot, and she only ever gave it rain water.

I have one (not 'osakazuki') but it goes like this every year and I have put it down to wind burn. However, this year I have not only mulched well but really watered well too, and no dry crispy leaves ;D. So I can only suggest the same as everyone else. Water well next year and fingers crossed.

I've found they do better in shade too. Mine is now sited in the shade of other shrubs, and now no problems. I guess it's sheltered form wind and sun, and the soil doesn't dry out so much because the sun isn't right on it.
