Topic: Europe or North Europe?

I don't quite understand this Europe and Northern Europe 'flag' location thing. I'm not represented as being in Europe (Belgium) but I am listed under Northern Europe as are some of the people who are listed under Europe.  It would be simpler to get rid of one or the other would it not? Holland is listed along with the UK but Belgium isn't. The UK is listed with Belgium but not Holland. All very confusing.
