It Must Be Nearly Spring

Because this morning the first 2 Brimstone Butterflies of the year appeared in my garden (both males) and had a right old ding-dong above the herbaceous border.  The next ones to appear should be the Gatekeepers in two or three weeks time.

You are lucky Hugh ! First visitors here are normally the orange-tip, speckled brown and small white.

Of course, no sooner have I mentioned Gatekeepers in two weeks time than a small tortoiseshell appeared this morning just to complicate matters.

Hya Hugh, yes I've had a few butterflies on my lottie this week, and I believe they are Red Admirals.   I'm trying to remember the more popular species from when I was a kid and knew the names of them all.   I had a t*t visit this morning, but I havent got round to looking up what type.

On the BBC Board "Nature", a chap has reported seeing 10 swallows over the River Exe very recently.

Every best wish, Colin.
