From planting 20 May to 10 foot plants in full production!!
We're picking Flamingo a bit young to give the plants a chance. That's Passandra on the left.

Given that we're down to 50F every night, apart from a burst of 60F a while ago, & we still produce 400 cus a year, God know what the 'proper' temperature might do??

Delicate plants and so many socking great cukes! If you saw it in a sci fi movie you'd think it was far-fetched, wouldn't you? ;D

Well I've currently got NINE on two plants!
Delia's pickle is going to be made tonight... two or three more may get entered into the early summer show and there will be a whole one in a jug or six of Pimm's at our weekend barbie.
Never had this many at once. But then I've never managed to get to this stage in the season before without having any red spider mite attack and the plants losing most of their leaves.

Plants? Always 8. But, having failed in continuity this year, I'm looking for sowing more or a couple of plants.
RSM - trying so hard this year to avoid it - misting etc - big search this am - found ONE - Dead!! So no predators yet. But even now the nights are marginally cold for them.

Top cucumbers Tim ;D
I have three plants which are doing really well in the greenhouse - they have taken over in a big way.....
Some leaves at the bottom of two plants have gone yellow so I cut them off. Any ideas what may have caused the yellow leaves???
I have been watering them everynight bar one when they all drooped. Have had a crop of 5 cucumbers so far and there are plenty more to come.

Just ordered some more seed, DP, because our 2 sowings are coming on much too close together.
RC - what food are you giving them?

Tim - Only once I watered them with tomato feed but didnt think it would do any harm. OOoo maybe thats what caused it.
What would you suggest I feed them with???
Thanks

I feed daily with a high potash (tomato type) feed.
Yellowing? Don't know! You've checked for aphid & red spider??

i wonder if i will get cucumbers this year at all. the first lot got pulled out by cats or foxes, the second lot, still alive, is struggeling with attacks of the slime monsters, despite pellets etc.
still only two rough leaves and no height - and certainly no flowers etc :(
