it's just about started to happen
« on: June 13, 2006, 21:53:04 »
I am extremely impressed with the colour of the sweetpea, just about my fave colour ever and i'm sure they've been on the philisan, they're running amok now and the runners are having to fight their way up their canes.

shame the lilies aren't very scented, but lovely to look at nevertheless.

bah, my sweet peas are less than a foot, got them in a couple of baskets, in ground in front of decking ready to go up trellis, in pot to go up trellised drain pipe. mine are meager compared to yours Mrs KP. why o why o why!!!???!!!

Was so looking forward to sitting on decking smelling the sweet fragrance  :'(
Any tips? I sowed them from seed about april, different varieties, but all growing rather slowly  :(

i've no idea how littlegem. ???  i grew them from seed in plastic cups at the end of march and bunged them in the runner bed quite a while ago now.  the bed is pure multipurpose compost with some bonemeal thrown around.  i keep them well soaked and some have taken off better than others but there are two or three that have just exploded.

i'm not even too worried if they strangle the runners as long as i get a wall of flowers sometime soon.

The ones in the bed are Fragrantissima and i've some Sugar and Spice in a hanging basket and they've just started to bloom too.

oh and i protected them with a wall of fleece against the elements until about a week ago. other than that .... pure beginners luck.

 ;D

Mrs KP Lovely. My sweetpeas may beat little gems by a couple of inches. I did notice one or two lilies are opening up today. The thing I am really pleased with are two clems that my nephew and wife bought me for my birthday last Sept. It seems at last I am getting a bit of colour in the garden. Have taken some pics but have to wait for son to transfer to computer !! Oh yes and I have actually got three little pumpkins Yipee!!!  Hope D-I-law keeps them all watered when I am away next week. (bless her :))
