Is it blight??
« on: June 04, 2006, 11:45:29 »
Hi all I've just been out and noticed that one of my potato plants has a few leaves which have black around the edges.  Is this a sign of early blight or could it be something else?

The plants (second earlies) have just started flowering, how long until they are ready for harvesting? What do I do if it is blight?

it doesnt necessarily mean frost - just colder than the plant likes it.

my tomatoes, when put out in april in sheltered position, turned a little purple at times.
purple = cold, much like in humans ;)

Watered all my potatoes and tomes today with compost tea in the hope that the friendly bacteria keep of the blight.

All the weeds that you shouldn't put on the composts heap, in a bin, covered with water, left to ferment for two to three weeks, results in very stinky liquid feed.  Weeds that shouldn't otherwise go on the compost heap can then go on the compost heap.  If it doesn't keep blight away, it should keep intruders off.
