Gooseberries & Strawberries - should I pick?
« on: May 31, 2006, 09:11:15 »
Two similar questions.

I was given a gooseberry bush (or a bit of a bush) which I planted around Feb I think.  I has grown well and I noticed I have a few fruit.  Should I pick them or leave for this year?

The same for strawberries - my M&D gave me some strawberry plants the other week which were already in flower.  I planted them and again I have some little green fruit.  They were apparently first year plants.  Can I eat them once ripe - surely if I don't the blackbird will???

Cheers!

Remember to protect them from the birds otherwise you might not get to eat them! :)
