earthing potatoes using grass cuttings?

Quick question, is it ok to do this? My other half planted 2 rows of potatoes too close together, so there isn't enough earth to do this.... is it ok to use grass cuttings?
Many thanks!

Unless the grass has recently been treated with anything just keep heaping them on, as long as the soil is already damp!!!!

I have just done exactly that because I had the cuttings and the spuds are in heavy, clay ridden soil. It can't do any harm and may help break the clay up a bit, so I would go right ahead!

I shall also be using last years bagged leaves, so half made leaf mould. Serves me right for planting the spuds in the only available space right at the edge of the plot! ;D
