Poundland black weed membrane
« on: May 17, 2006, 20:56:07 »
Bought 3 rolls of this at the weekend with the plan to use it for the psb and sprout bed - no weeding and wearing out the horsetail.

This stuff is hopeless.  I know it's only a pound but I still expect to be fit for purpose.  I have some decent weed membrane, which I used for comparison.  The decent one is thick and NO light AT ALL can pass thro, whereas the P/L is more like the texture of 20 denier tights and very lightwight.  I have put two rolls down - it might slow growth down a bit.

I would normally take it all straight back to the shop and complain for a £1 I feel a bit daft - but that's probably what Poundland rely on.  Hmm might try a letter to HO instead.

I made the mistake of buying some too. The bindweed loves it... >:( >:(

That's one to avoid then. On the other hand their polycloches are just what I needed for putting out tender veg or bringing the hardier stuff on at the beginning of the season.

Go to Poundstretcher. Rolls of black weed membrane 8m x 1.5m (a whopping 26ft x 5ft) selling at two for a fiver. It's working well so far on my plot.
