Take That at Wemberlee last night
« on: May 09, 2006, 20:40:46 »
Wow wow wow wow wow and a million times wow

I know i should act my age, but last night was just brilliant.  13,000 fans telling the boys how much we'd missed them for the last 10 years.

When i last took my daughter to see them, 12 years ago, she'd just turned 12, and so i would imagine had most of the audience there or there abouts.

It was just as good if not better than the last time as none of us had ever thought we'd see them again.

As wee Mark Owen said, "last time you were all here you held up lighters to this song" (i think lighters were a customary slow ballad essential at the time) , "this time you've all got mobile phones so we want to see them held up, and you're not suppose to film us but go ahead anyway".  Lordy B, 12 years ago, who actually HAD a mobile phone let along be able to hold out the housebricks that were used then ...........how times have changed !

All the old favourites came out and the Robbie hologram wasn't an April fool, it was there .......... well fat Gaz never could do the intro to Could it be magic properly !  ;D

Throat's sore as anything, but the OH is quite pleased about that ......... spent far far too much, but came back north to find we'd had a couple of blinding sunny days, and all the babies have shot up !  (apart from a couple of teeth marks on the nasturtiums, a runner bean plant and some morning glories (despite all the usual traps laid).

Back to earth (and work tomorrow) booooooooooooo !  Still it was a brilliant couple of days break ....now back to the planting.

 ;D

this was the encore - Never Forget .......... as if we could !

how they didn't kill themselves i'll never know.  during Relight My Fire (no Lulu sadly) a huge wall of flame that spanned the width of the stage shot up - we could feel the heat from where we were, a third of the arena back from the stage, and then later on huge amounts of water were falling (like rain) and they were breakdancing literally kicking tons of water over the front few rows of the audience.  i expected to see another electrical storm !!

where the old codgers got their energy from is another mystery, this was the 12th performance of the tour and considering they've probably sat on their bums for the past 10 years they must have done some training to get fit ...... even Gaz  :P

My 17 year old was there last night - much to my disgust as I couldn't get tickets - although have since got them for Milton Keynes!!  She said the McFly boys will never be the same now she's seen the Take That men all wet and covered in Baby Oil!!!  :o

Can't wait!   ;)   ;D

lol Amanda ........ far to many nearly naked wimmen on the stage for our liking !!!

it was almost as if they didn't think they'd be able to carry the show on their own and padded it out with all these unnecessary extra scantily clad people !!!

they should have had more faith in us  ;D

Am glad your daughter got to see a REAL band though - they're still the best in my book.  Was tough with Robbie not being there (he wasn't the last time we saw them either but at least we got the hologram this time) but we were so thrilled with them just being together again.

my daugher's b/f got tickets for us 5 mins after the lines opened as we were all at work and couldn't keep our fingers on re-dial, and our seats were pretty d**n good so he got 10/10.

you'll have a cracking time love.  I'm back down to see Robbie at MK in September (unless they've changed the dates), i really must sort that out at some stage.   ;D

and then i finished my 4th Harry Potter on the plane on the way back which was SO exciting and then reading my Grow Your Own mag  i decided to try and grow some aubergines !   all in all a top couple of days.

but my daughter has just rung to say that she's been on Mark's website and he's going to be a dad  :'(  still breaks your heart when a heart-throb is finally put beyond reach  ;D

My daughter was a huge fan and was in a Take That Posse with 5 other girls when she was 14. They met in each others houses ever couple of weeks to play their records and swoon over them, -  with each of them having their favourite one.  Ten years later and three weeks ago they all had a reunion and met up again at the Newcastle Concert.  They all had a fantastic time and said they were brilliant.  It was so great to see them having a giggle and just being young and enthusiastic.  Most are married now and a few are mothers, so it was so lovely to see them recapture a very happy time in their lives.  :D busy_lizzie

Oooh I can't wait, Ive got tickets for 17th June in Manchester. Myself, my friend, her sister and our 3 15-17yr old daughters. Bet us oldies scream louder than our girlies!!
We have regular Take That sessions on Suday evenings with our Sunday dinner.play as many songs as we can, even the 9 yr old knows the words, haven't dare tell her we're going she'll be most annoyed.
My favourite past-time if feeling a bit ill was to go to bed with the Take That and Wham videos........bliss!!!

Ooooooh I am so jelous!!!!

they were grand as lads, what must they be like as men   :D

Ahh takes me back, doing step classes at the gym in me leg warmers watching sky on the telly in the weights room.

Really glad they've met expectations, nothing worse than some of those sad old giffers prancing about when they should have sunk gracefully away ( Mr LeBon)
is it in the sale?
