Brandling Worms
« on: April 24, 2006, 14:04:16 »
General question. I have just emptied out both my compost heap and some very well rotted horse manure. A few months ago both piles were riddled with brandling worms. Now there is not one to be seen. Assuming that they do not migrate to Andalucia with the rest of us...........where have they gone (please don't say Tenerife)?

How well rotted is it? It could have reached the stage where it's no longer of interest to them. I don't know when this happens; my bins always get emptied out and the contents used before it arrives.

so that's what they are - when I emptied one of the old compost bins last weekend there were hundreds and I did wonder - thought they weren't ordinary earthworms.

Don't think they liked being riddled tho - hope they don't desert me  :-\
