Pigeons
« on: April 11, 2006, 12:56:55 »
When i first got my garden a couple of years ago, i was delighted to have any bird visiting the garden, however now the pigeons have taken over, they eat all the birdseed, frighten off the other birds and only seem to visit my garden...All the other gardens near to me get all kinds of bird life but I just seem to be getting these big pesky pests...any help gratefully appreciated

If you have your nuts, niger seed and sunflower seeds in feeders, the pigeons should not be able to get to them.  If you are putting food out on a flat tray I would stop doing this for a while and maybe the pigeons will go elsewhere.   :D

I have seeds and nuts in feeders, with a wire cage around the bird table which will only allow the smaller birds through.  Unfortunately, I still have problems with pigeons; they feed off the seeds which the selective sparrow throw out.  It is quite normal to see a couple of sparrows on the feeder, with the pigeon pecking around at the bottom!
