Cheap Pots at Morrisons
« on: April 04, 2006, 17:49:07 »
There may have been another thread about cheap 'cut flower' plastic tubs but I couldn't find it, so did this one.

Anyway, I popped off to Morrison's to stock up on beer, and noticed these 25cm tubs stacked and taped up at the entrance, with a 99p sticker on. The sticker said 99p for 8, but the 8 had been crossed out, so I enquired. Oh, whatever is in the pack is 99p the attendant said, and since they appeared to be assorted quantities, I had a rummage.

I walked away with 32 pots for 99p !!! The checkout girl was as surprised as I was  :D

Now that is a bargain. Well done, Curry :D Unfortunately my nearest Morrisons is too far away for me to break even, what with car expenses accounted for......but rumour has it that our local KwikSave, now closed, has been taken over by Morries, so......fingers crossed.

Thank you Alishka, you can understand me feeling rather pleased with myself? Since these are standard pots used for flowers, I presume other supermarket chains must dispose of them at ridiculous prices too?

Nowt at my local Morrisons, mind you it has barely restocked anything in months, I think it is closing down.

Hee hee, I am the proud owner of a total of 62 pots now, for the extortionate sum of £1.98p ...

I think I have enough for all my needs now  :)

wow thats a bargain aint it? I got 8 of them a while back and will use them for my aubergines I think, but I am thinking about using one or two to grow carrots in.  I have never grown them in containers before but I know people do and I have never had much success with carrots on the lotty.  What do you reckon? would they be suitable for baby carrots?

That's a bargain! :o

Even 99p for 8 is a bargain, I think :)

I'm going to try my local Morrisons. Hope they have it.

Still very cheap!!!! Was in there today and was tempted by the lupins- £1.79 for a fairly good sized plant (by supermarket standards!)

I went into Morrisons today and got two lots of the pots. They were 99p for 8 but still really good value. Going to grow some chilli peppers in them :)
Completely out of topic but I bought a packet of doughnuts there. The packet said 'with chocolate orange filling', which I was looking forward to sample. After lunch I tried one and it turned out to be jam filling! All of them! Really gutted but cannot be bothered to go back for replacement. :(
