BLOODY FANTASTIC!

Not only the production of the clip but also to you and all the other HERO's who mean we are here now as we are.

I have a map at home, drawn by my paternal grandfather (who I only met once, not that I can remember as I was only months old at the time) showing where all the doodle bugs got shot down over his farm in Sussex. Indeed I have stood in the craters left.

And many a time my father talks about watching dog fits over the South Downs when he was a kid.

I have heard many times about the Doodle Bugs over the Isle of Wight, and my Mum can still crouch to the ground involuntarily if a plane flies over very low, she gets very embarrassed but can't stop herself, it's very sad to see.

Tim. I do weep with you. I am awestruck by the bravery and courage. The fact that the job had to be done and it was. I feel pride. I do think about the people who were lost. It is why I have field poppies in my garden. For both wars.I think about the mothers,the wives,sisters left behind,since becoming a mum myself and watching my son and daughter play those thoughts have become even more pointed. I wonder what my Gran was doing when you were doing your flying? Where was my mother? Where was my Grandad?

I am not a royalist,I'm not capable of holding a great political debate but I am patriotic. I believe in us and I think we are strong and courageous people. I think we all have the lion within us. I hate all the doing down of ourselves that we do. We should have a sense of pride in ourselves. (I don't want to sound like I think we are perfect because I don't.)

I will never forget what yourself and others have done to win us our freedom. My son and daughter will know too.

I'm also awestruck by flying! How does it feel? What is it like to land,what is it like the first time? Flying for pleasure, what is it like? I watched a stunt flyer in a bi-plane flying over Alnwick Castle,it was breathtaking. I watched and I understood why people fly,but at the same time I did not,it looks so scary,are flyers crazy,what makes you do it,and then do again and again??!! Could be the makings of another thread...just to get my flying questions pinned down.

You're right Tim, no room for heroism in that lot at all. Not with young kids being filled up with cocaine and forced to go round chopping people's hands off, starting with their own families. I knew one of the warlords responsible when he was in exile round the corner from here, plotting the next coup. All he cared about was becoming president and getting hold of the diamond wealth, and he didn't care how many people got killed in the process. The best thing I've heard for a long time is that Nigeria has agreed to extradite Charles Taylor, the man behind it all, as far as the world knows at any rate, to stand trial. There has to have been someone behind him and his lunatic schemes though.

The big problem is, all the corruption which created the problems in the first place is still there, as bad as ever.
