COME FLY WITH ME - to wartime Russia -
« on: March 17, 2006, 07:18:47 »
- while your lottie thaws out?

You may have glanced at the 2GvSAP forum that I mentioned earlier? Well, this 'sim' was made by it's creator, an American, entirely from information, photographs & logbook extracts posted on that forum. A nice little present for me.
And I thought it might add colour to your snowbound weekend?

On 9 May we preview the professional 'documentary' of the campaign being made over here.

If you do view this one,
DO HAVE SOUND WELL UP & USE FULL SCREEN - the inner icon at top right of the screen.

OK??   Fasten your harness!!

Tim, that is amazing, I have just watched it and promised my boys they can watch it tonight when they get in as they have to go to school now!

It must be so strange to watch film of your own flight so long ago.  The computer graphics are amazing aren't they to be able to reproduce it like that?

When the documentary is to be shown on TV can you let us all know? It will be so much more interesting being about someone we know.

Same as Mike, Thank you for sharing that with us and all you and everyone else did.

Before I forget - the song which sets the scene so wonderfully is by Ron, who's about 90 now, & has retired to Canada.

I thought that the theme music was well chosen too?

No free lunches, I'm afraid!

Although it's being done professionally, it's privately financed - that means, as I understand it, a DVD at whatever cost.

What is the theme music?  It fits extremely well.

I'm going to visit Ron's site as well because his song made me smile! Thank goodness for the internet, lets us share good things we might never have thought of checking out - more good than bad on the www I reckon.

Do I remember that song as an old WW1 song too, I think I heard it on the film Oh What a Lovely War?

Tim , tears welling now, I look on you as a great friend even though I have never met you in person. Am going to read all about your friend Ron later and email Him as well.
Once again thanks for what you and your generation done for us.  And hope someone is looking after all your friends who were lost doing their duty in the war.

  God bless you  Tim.

PS - I have never met Ron but Pete, who put all this thing together, & who last year was washed out of New Orleans, found him somehow. I mailed him to ask if he minded me copying his song. He said that he would just like acknowledgement.

And please, if you must weep, weep with me - for most of my group near the end did not survive the war in the Desert..

That's the problem with war, people don't survive it. It's not just people killed directly either; we lost more of my wife's family to stress-related diseases than we did to rebel activity during rthe Sierra Leone war.
