It s a brabantia one he wants to take it to the tip, i want to keep it!!! so i need some good  excuses to keep it, ive already said to grow spuds in it,not good enough for him,  it has a plastic bottom and half of the top but its made of stainless steel,  any suggestions to save the bin!!!

What's the problem with it?

If it's the lid not closing, all you have to do is contact Brabantia online and they send you replacement catches!

Why not, if it is kaput, use it for making nettle or comfrey tea?

If its kaput, why not cut the plastic ends off and use the rest as a raised bed for strawberries to keep the slugs at bay?

or use it as a water but if it has no lid?

MY sister uses a large plastic blue bin in her shed to store sticks to light the fire with.

Can you think of something that HE wants to store safely, say...in his shed?   
This will buy you time to think of something YOU can do with it! ;D ;D ;D

You can never have too many bins.

Planters & pots, temp or perm
Handy carry-alls for e.g. water, eggs, seedlings from neighbours, spare shoes, firewood, tools, mixing things for sprinkling on the plot, harvesting, weeding, lunch ;D
Liquid fertiliser makers (see threads on sheep poo and comfrey tea!)
Upside down for blanching rhubub, endive, chicory, seakale

Point out to OH that rhubub blanching pots cost about £50, think of all the money you're saving with your thrifty ways ;)
